a story of one brave mother
I had been performing treatment for her for the past 3 years.
This woman came from a different country and had no idea about life in Japan when she arrived. She worked very hard every day at her office and lived alone.
She was married, but her husband had his own job in a different country, so they had to live separately. I could only imagine how hard it was to move to Japan and live alone.
I remember our first session very well. She was completely exhausted and her whole body was tight. But, she was the type of person who is connected to her body and it did not take long to recover her good health. We talked a lot about her story, her country and life in Japan etc. On a professional level, during the course of her treatment I felt like we became friends. She came to see me on a regular basis to maintain her condition and it went well, as long as she did not do things too intensively.
Then, last year we all encountered the spread of COVID-19. Knowing it is challenging situation for people who live abroad and are separated from their family, I wanted to share useful information for my clients and be connected to them, including this woman.
Her job shifted to the new style – the remote working style. She had good friends living nearby and also was able to connect with her family with new technology often.I could tell that the flexibility in her surrounding supported her well.
One day, she told me that she had planned to travel to another country so that she could see her husband. I was confident her condition was optimized from her regular exercises, healthy diet, and my treatment. I was also sure that she would follow all precautious measurements to avoid infection or spread of COVID-19.
A couple months later, I had a session with her after her quarantine and she revealed a big surprise that she had gotten pregnant!
I was so excited for her but at the same time, I felt a big responsibility to perform treatment for her and her new life.
As I followed up her condition regularly, I literally felt like I was walking the life path with her and her unborn child. Our sessions continued until the day she left Japan.
Her due date was April so recently, I mailed her because I was concerned about her situation. She kindly replied to me immediately with a beautiful baby picture and I could not stop smiling at the screen.
Life is only one time and short and during this time, the period of being able to be pregnant is very limited.
The timing to be pregnant is a miracle and her pregnancy was very impressive for me.
I have heard that many couples decided to wait to have a baby until this COVID situation becomes more manageable and I totally understand that decision.
But, I also want to cherish the new lives who choose to be born in this era, and to support their parents.
As we think about ourselves, we were born from our parent.
I believe that we all are being loved and cherished from the beginning and each and everyone’s existence is unique and important.
I wish everyone take care of each other well, since we all are the same in that meaning.
Every year, when we have a sakura season in Japan, I will remember this brave mother and her baby.
Many blessings to all of you.
